Finished Costume and Style Planning

This is the working progress whilst I was creating the moodboard/design.
The images below are close ups of parts of the board.

Costume Drafts

Costume

These are the clothing that I have picked out that has the style and edge I want my actors to have. They are all from clothing websites that I feel would compliment the theme and genre of my music video. In Latter stages I will put them together to give a more professional feel.

Planning

This is a handwritten version of my planning and the tasks I feel that will benefit my production process.

Makeup Design

Along with costume designs that are currently being designed and thought of, I had some ideas for some makeup that would look effective on my music video. I felt the business lady will have a smokey eye and professional look, two male dancers will have a striking and creative face deign and the ballet dancer to have a leopard print.

Structure of Music Video

To structure my music video I had to break down the certain parts of the song, it required me to listen to the song several times and write down the starts and ends of certain parts. This will help me structure my music video and plan what I want in each part.

Risk Assesment

Doing a Risk Assesment is very important as it allows me to think about how to overcome problems and how to maintain health and saftey. Doing risk assesment allows me to identify what could go wrong in production and how to minimize risks. This helps me plan better.

Proposal

This is my formal proposal for my project, this will give me direction throughtout my production and show me what I am aiming and planning for.

Developed Planning Idea's

Developed Planning Idea’s.
Overall I still want my music video to have an urban feel and I want the music video to be really energetic and vibrant. However due to some difficulties I have come up with another idea that I feel would work well with the song and what I want.
The Story:
Instead of having the male dancer who travels and meets other dancers and skaters I have changed it to having someone who looks superior and of upper class, such as a business man, he will carry around a suitcase and inside will hold a chair of some sort. He will travel to lots of different locations and get out his chair and watch the different dancers. It is a very quirky and different idea and I feel it will overcome the problem of getting lots of people in one go.
Location:
(same as before)
I want to use lots of different urban and cool locations, in door and out. I want to use locations such as southbank skate park, trocadero, local park, studios and streets. This will give a variety of locations and will engage my audience as it will not get boring. I also want locations will vibrancy and urban feel to give the conventional feel good atmosphere.

Actors/Performers:
(same as before)
I want to use both genders of different racises. They will all have a certain skill that will be demonstraited throughout the video. I want to have both female and male break dancers, I also want to use an element of ballet dancers as a sign of varsity and diversity. This will be more engaing for the audience as it shows different skills and talents becoming unison. I will be holding auditions for people to be in music video. They will have interesting and more retro costumes which will be aesthetically appealing
Song:
(same as before)
I have chosen the song ‘changed the way you kissed me’ by example, I have not changed my choice because I felt that the song was suitable for the narrative/performance and it has a good drifts and build ups to the song.

Lyric Analysis

This is the lyric analysis of the song I have chosen. I only had to do the top half of the song as it is very repetitive. I feel the song has very little meaning and is based alot on the rhythm and beats of the song rather than lyrical meaning. However the song does suggest a slight romance gone wrong.

Auditions : The Notifier

To create my music video I am going to need a cast of actors, dancers and athletically talented people, through my resource audit of the people I was able to identify the sort of people that could potentially feature in my video. I then sent on a message using social networking to tell them about my music video and that auditions were taking place to be casted into my music video. This is important as it gives me a range of options and choices for my music video and be able to pick out people that will be reliable and have motivation to do the video for me. Here is a print screen of the message I sent out to the appropriate people,

Influences

I have finally made a conclusion of what I want my video to be like, I really like the quirky humour that has been  portrayed in Modesteps 'Feel Good' video with the girl traveling around with a breif case. I want to combine it with the dance and interesting shots used in DJ Fresh' Hot Right Now'. I think that combining the two would make an interesting and fun video to shoot.

Influences on Music Style

As I pointed out in the video I feel that urban culture can be interpreted in different ways and is up for different opinions and criticism. However I was able to identify the conventions of urban culture and how it may impact on a style.

Location: I felt that urban location was usually something or where that has been slightly worn down and does not signify wealth or maintenance but necessarily run down and grimy. An Urban location could simply be in the suburbs, local estate, warehouses or rooftops. I believe they represent a middle social class and how they enjoy life without luxuries which is a positive outlook on life.

Fashion: I feel this can spread across a large area, urban culture fashion usually associates itself with either the retro and or old school look in the 80’s, it can vary. I believe fashion sense depends on the area the person may live within an urban culture. Some may think bright and retro colours are more urban but some may think darker and warmer colours are, or sometimes lots of denim or leather. However the fashion sense of an urban culture is constantly changing as the creativities are always embracing different clothing.

Activities: of those in an urban culture are also very broad but they range over skill and creativity. However there are some very conventional hobbies and activities the urban culture are known for, such as dance, skateboarding, photography, graphics and music. I feel these are the more conventional hobbies/ activities as there are no boundaries and people are free to express themselves in any shape or form.
